A message from Julie Freeman, FNP
My name is Julie Freeman. I have been a nurse practitioner for over 5 years. I have over 15 years of experience as a nurse working in a variety of settings. I started my career off in the military. I guess this is why medical emergencies do not bother me. I keep focused on doing the best for my patients. I also got very good at wound care and helping people recover from a variety of conditions. I did get to teach our military how to walk again. After the military, I was on a road of working very hard at multiple jobs at once. I cared for pediatric children who had serious cardiac, respiratory, and GI problems among other things. I cared for veterans who have serious PTSD and addiction disorders through the VA. I got to work at our state mental hospitals caring for people who were in mental health crisis modes.
I moved on to working at the Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge caring for our Native Americans. They make some beautiful artwork. Their culture can teach us a lot about caring for our neighbors.
Afterwards I went on to work at our state schools in Texas. It was at the state schools that I had the honor of taking care of some very needy patients. They had significant mental health issues along with a lot of genetic disorders. I got to care for some serious medical disorders. I even got to diagnosis rare diseases. The most wonderful feeling in the world is making a difference in someone's life. Helping them finally put a name to the disease that has been inflicting them. This is such a glory.
I came to Wyoming to help my son take care of his children. It is a joy in my heart to be able to be a full-time grandma and still be able to take care of patients. At first I came here and was working at Medicine Bow. I came to love the people in these small rural towns here. I love the weather a bit more when I am back home in Texas. Having two homes and needing to split my time between two states is difficult. Thus, I am starting my own business. To each of you, I promise to give you my best. I want to give you affordable healthcare. I want to make sure that medication is affordable. I want the best for each of you. I have no intention of running you through my clinic like a herd of animals. I want to hear your story. I want to hear how you got sick and what your goals are. I want to help you meet those goals. Let me make a difference in your life.
Soon I will be graduating and adding to my services. My plan is to bring group, family and individual therapy along with caring for our more serious mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, personality disorders, and pediatric mental health conditions.
